THAO SURANARI ( YAMO )

Thao Suranari (Yamo), whose real name was Khun Ying Mo, was a heroic woman from NakhonRatchasima (Korat). She lived during the reign of King Rama III in the early 19th century.
In 1826, when the Lao army led by King Anouvong invaded Korat, she bravely organized and encouraged local people, helping Siamese forces defeat the invaders. Because of her courage and leadership, she was later awarded the royal title “Thao Suranari.” Today, her statue in Nakhon Ratchasima is a symbol of bravery and protection, and many people visit to pay respect and pray for good luck.
